• I can’t get an Ex-Muslim contributor for the life of me!

I am co-editing a book of deconversion accounts, recounting personal experiences of leaving religion. We have a good number of excellent ex-Christian contributions, but I can’t seem to find anyone willing to commit to a chapter/account from an ex-Muslim perspective. Here are some details for the book:

    Beyond an Absence of Faith

Can anyone help? I have contacted various councils of ex-Muslims, tweeted and hit the Reddit group. Any other ideas?

    • Tauriq Moosa might be interested. He’s a friend, so I can ask on your behalf if you like, otherwise find him at http://freethoughtblogs.com/indelible/ or @tauriqmoosa

      • JR – if you could say something, then I’ll drop him a line, that would be awesome.

        Thanks mate.

    • Or own No Cross No Crescent?

      • Damnations! What a fool is me.

      • NoCrossNoCrescent

I will happily contribute, but let me explain one point: I am considered particularly virulent, even among my ex-Muslim friends. Many of them at least to some extent identify with Islam (if only culturally) and/or feel nostalgic about it. I don’t.

        • the important thing is the personal story, especially from a psychological and social point of view.

          • NoCrossNoCrescent

            OK, you asked for it!

        • You make it sound like it’s a bad thing

I’ll post this to the ex Muslim forum on Reddit. There are bound to be a few volunteers.

      • Thanks. Though I did post a text post there myself.

      • Is it you who posts mine to Reddit? I have so much to thank you for!

      • fsda

Yeah, I usually post your stuff to Reddit. I should be thanking you since I think it’s so good that it should be read by more people!

Myself along with a many of my exmuslim network in malaysia (even pakistan and europe), can and probably will be more than willing to help out.
Let me know if you’re interested

      • Hi there,

I am looking to get a couple of ex-Muslim accounts of deconversion. They can be anonymous or not; that is up to you. Basically, I am looking for the personal and social journeys recounting a loss of faith; how it happened and what impact it had, and where you find yourself now, as a result. Anything around 3-5000 words. Is that anything you can do?

The book will be released on my own Onus Books imprint, a sceptical publishing house (very small). Any contribution would be voluntary, due to number of contributors. It should act as a cathartic process in getting out a VERY necessary voice. Hope you can help!

      • Are you female? That would be great as we need a female ex Muslim voice.

    • humanistca

I found your link on the ex-muslim forums and would be very interested in contributing my own personal story, how would I go about contacting you?

      • Hi humanistica, shoot me an email through the contact page at the top of the page here. I potentially have enough offers, unless you are a woman, in which case, it could be more of a goer. Send me a message anyway to let me know a little about yourself.

    • I’m in, contact me on my twitter :)

      • Hi there, hang fire a sec as I have a few now – if ny drop out, I will contact you. Thanks for offering

    • mia

do i need to be an out of the closet ex-muslim?

      • No, but I need a woman Muslim if possible. A still in the closet sounds fascinating, and obviously very sad too. Contact me through the contact page above.

    • There’s an Ex-Muslim Secular Activist named Kacem El Ghazzali. Check out Ghazzali’s blog here: http://atheistica.com.

Maybe you can track him down.
