New book on the Kalam Cosmological Argument in final stages

Jonathan MS Pearce has a book, long in the pipeline, in its final stages of editing. The book, still under a working title Did God Create a Universe from Nothing? Countering William Lane Craig’s Kalam Cosmological Argument, looks at the ubiquitous Kalam argument used by theologians and apologists to argue that God created the universe. Pearce looks critically at the simple argument, as a syllogism, and finds it wanting. Jeffrey Jay Lowder is writing the foreword for the book.

As he wrote on his own blog recently:

I just thought I’d give you an update of a book that has been brewing for a long time. I have written, based on a paper I wrote some time ago, a book critiquing the Kalam Cosmological Argument as favoured by William Lane Craig, amongst others. Jeff Lowder is writing the foreword, and I have a couple of endorsements so far. All is looking good and I would hope to have it out some time in September.

I am excited about it as there needs to be something out there on this topic that brings a lot of the arguments together, clearly and concisely. The book does it.

We will keep you posted concerning further news on this title.
