• Malala Yousafzai takes my breath away…

    … because she said this:

I started thinking about that, and I used to think that the Talib would come, and he would just kill me. But then I said, ‘If he comes, what would you do Malala?’ then I would reply to myself, ‘Malala, just take a shoe and hit him.’  But then I said, ‘If you hit a Talib with your shoe, then there would be no difference between you and the Talib. You must not treat others with cruelty and that much harshly, you must fight others but through peace and through dialogue and through education.’ Then I said I will tell him how important education is and that ‘I even want education for your children as well.’ And I will tell him, ‘That’s what I want to tell you, now do what you want.’

Her entire interview with Jon Stewart follows. Enjoy.

    1. She is an amazing young woman and I hope she wins the Nobel. If you look past the “if it bleeds, it leads” headlines she represents the emerging face of Islam. Did you see the story about the 200 Muslims who formed a ring around that Christian church to prevent the Taliban attacking it like they did last month. Here’s the link. Muslims form human chain to protect Christians

        1. Unfortunately she didn’t but she still has an awesome future ahead of her. Saw an item this morning where she says she wants to be PM of Pakistan. Well, perhaps not. She’d be crazy to go back there but who knows? But she could still write on the social media which Pakistani teens like ours are addicted to. We’ll see and will be interesting to watch her in the years to come.

            1. BethAnn, I don’t know if you will even get this but is there something going on with SIN? I haven’t seen a new post in almost a week, even from those who post often. What gives?

            2. OK I see now. If you log on you have to go to individual bloggers. The home page doesn’t show the latest posts. Why.

            3. Hope it’s working… tech issues can be tough. Ed has the patience of a saint when it comes to network snafus.
