      To the Stoics, the goal of man was not to shape the world, but instead to shape the will and the ability of man to adapt to a reality which is often out of our control and subject to fate. Stoicism produced men of immense will and discipline, and gave rise to individuals who would do rather than think. Stoicism was not about philosophy; it was about living philosophically.
