• Natural Disasters: Therefore Bible Is True

StormA Christian recently commented to me that because the Book of Revelation talks about greater natural disasters before the End Times, this is proof that God exists the Bible is true. While I have heard this argument before, it hit me funny this time and I lost my shit.

Aside from the fact that every prophet in every age has cited the weather of their time as proof that the End Times were soon and the fact that the Book of Revelation was never meant to be taken as an apocalyptic prediction, the thing that really gets me about this is that it is Christians like this woman who are science deniers that are preventing the rest of society from dealing with global climate change and it is global climate change that is causing the severe weather that she is using to justify her ridiculous beliefs.

In other words, her beliefs are preventing her from dealing with reality and this in turn is preventing us from fixing the very real problem she is using to justify her beliefs. In a way, religious belief has created a self-fulfilling prophecy and this is why we can’t have nice things.

    1. If natural disasters are a sign, then the world should’ve ended long before we were born. The self-fulfilling prophecy thing is sad. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. But we have delayed action already and lots of damage has already been done.

    2. Natural disasters are what it says, as their is no G0Ds involved, We can cause them by our carbon footprints, and pollution by greedy exploitations, to our natural mother earth!!!………….. joe
