• Tomorrow’s Charlie Hebdo cover

Despite the terrorist attack, the weekly Charlie Hebdo lives, and its defense of freedom of expression will not bow to intimidation and bullying (the cowardice of Western governments and press notwithstanding, which makes their courage even more praiseworthy).

The magazine comes out tomorrow (number 1178), and this will be its cover:

Once again, Muhammad is featuring, now with the usual message of solidarity Je Suis Charlie.

The title, Tout est pardonné (All is forgiven), is very much in line with the cover of Love is stronger than hate; it’s a great response to religious fascism, although I don’t think religiously motivated murder has any kind of forgiveness whatsoever.

That’s where I draw the line.

    • It’s a bold move, challenging Muslims to see their prophet as someone who values compassion and forgiveness over intolerance and outrage. Well played, Charlie Hebdo.
