• Why did One Directon apologize?

Last week we learned two members of One Direction smoked a joint while touring in Peru.

Now, the band leader apologized for their behavior (?):

Liam Payne has apologized on behalf of his One Direction bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik after footage of them allegedly smoking cannabis leaked online.
The pair hit headlines when a video surfaced showing them puffing on a suspicious-looking cigarette in a car in Peru, while talking about “illegal substances” and “Mary Jane”, a nickname for marijuana.

They have faced growing pressure to say sorry to their young fans, but have so far failed to address the scandal.

On Saturday, Payne reached out to the group’s fans around the world, insisting the bandmembers are only young and will make mistakes as they grow up.

I’m no One Direction fan, I’m a civil liberties fan, so I wonder: what was their so called ‘mistake’? They did whatever they felt right with their bodies, and harmed no-one else on the process. What’s there to apologize for?

Would they apologize if there was footage of them listening music way too loud on their headphones?

Shame on them for giving in and apologizing for doing whatever they see fit with their bodies.
