• God not be praised

One of the things I don’t understand is why USA have bills with the “In god we trust” motto on them.

Look at Brazil, they might be taking a step forward for secularism in this matter:

Public prosecutor Jefferson Dias says the country is a secular state and the phrase “God be praised” disregards the rights of non-Christians.

He is asking a federal court to order the words removed. His motion was filed on Monday.

Dias says the fact most Brazilians are Christian does not justify the “violation of the fundamental rights of those that follow different religions or do not believe in God”.

It isn’t that hard to understand, right?

Wow. In Brazil, with that ugly statute of jesus in Rio?
I don’t think I’ll ever care to visit, clearly someone like me is not welcome there.

      • You’d miss Brazil because of that statue?

Well, I’d have to disagree with you on this one.

Basically, we’re not welcome anywhere -we’re New Atheists-, but I’d like to visit as many countries as I can.

I know. And I know Brazil has beauties nowhere else does. Still it is hard to look at that statue and not think it has a Freudian “preoccupation with size” dimension to it.

          • Hahahaha, good point! More of a reason to go, and mock that in-place!

You would do that? I don’t think I would, maybe they’ll get offended, and there are too many of them and just one of me. I’d probably just go spend time at the gargantas del diablo waterfalls away from civilization.

            • Hahaha, the thing is… I can’t help myself!! I’m a provocateur!!! If I were Salman Rushdie I’d have written The Satanic Verses 2 or something of the likes xD

Nothing wrong with that. But I recently saw a documentary on gun violence in Rio and it was very scary. It seemed to me that most of the city was off limits to tourists. I’d rather stick with the nature. The statue of jesus is doing a good job overseeing the gangs!

            • I get it now.
