• On Christians ruining classic songs

I don’t know why they do it, but for some reason, Christians seem to enjoy violating copyright law, stealing melodies, and switching musical lyrics. Case in point:

I’m pretty sure the writer didn’t contact Cohen and ask his permission to lift the melody, rhyme scheme, and a number of lyrics to “christianize” this classic. It’s painful to listen to this. I’ve never been able to figure out why people who claim to serve the entity that invented creativity can’t seem to come up with decent music and must resort to converting other people’s work.

    Another case in point:

I’m sure if I dug around a bit, I’d find more examples. However, I’ve tortured my ears enough for one day. I’m heading to Youtube to listen to the brilliant original version of these songs. Perhaps then I’ll dismount my high horse and settle down a bit.
