• Anne Frank, Too Pornographic

“Last week, Gail Horalek filed a formal complaint with the district, alleging that “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl (The Definitive Edition)” is an inappropriate version of the real-life tale of a Jewish family hiding from Nazis during the Holocaust, according to Patch Northville (which, like The Huffington Post, is owned by Aol).

“”It’s pretty graphic, and it’s pretty pornographic for seventh-grade boys and girls to be reading,” Horalek told Fox 2.” (Huffington Post)

I can see where she’s coming from. That hot lesbian experience Anne had as a young teenager would just be too much to put on a group of twelve-year-olds. On the other hand, Anne’s diary doesn’t have anything like that in it, I just made it up. So, what exactly is the big deal? Well, apparently Anne made some brief remarks about the vagina, including the labia, clitoris, and pubic hair. The Young Turks provide a sensible summary of the whole thing.

I am astonished that there are people in this day and age who are as prudish as Horalek, and even more astonished that she seems to think she can shelter her daughter from things like this. I mean, the daughter ought to already know about this stuff and if she didn’t she’d be learning about it anyway within the next year or two.
