• Corn Kills.

In Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore asks the question: Why is America the most violent nation on earth?

It may be due to corn consumption. In the article “Corn consumption, tryptophan, and cross-national homicide rates,” A. R. Mawson and K. W. Jacobs argue that because corn is low in tryptophan, a chemical responsible for the production of serotonin in the brain (low levels of which are linked to depression), it is therefore plausible that the violent behavior of some nations with high levels of violence is due to their corn consumption. As a matter of fact, they show that nations with high rates of corn consumption tend to be more violent than similar nations with low rates of corn consumption.

End note: If you think you suffer from depression, the good news is: serotonin levels can be increased with exercise and exposure to sunlight (link).
