Pope Francis lies about legalization of drugs

Pope Frank is at it again, pretending to poison foreign public policies with his ridiculous dogmas:

Pope Francis condemned the legalization of recreational drugs as a flawed and failed experiment as he lent his voice Friday to a debate that is raging from the United States to Uruguay.
Francis told delegates attending a Rome drug enforcement conference that even limited steps to legalize recreational drugs “are not only highly questionable from a legislative standpoint, but they fail to produce the desired effects.”

[…]

“Drug addiction is an evil, and with evil there can be no yielding or compromise. To think that harm can be reduced by permitting drug addicts to use narcotics in no way resolves the problem,” he added.

Oh, the hypocrisy. You know what’s really evil? Protecting child molesters. That’s evil.

First of all: we own our bodies – we are our bodies. We’re free to use them in whatever way we see fit as long as we don’t hurt anyone else, and that includes using drugs. To make Francis understand: that’s how the free will (wink, wink) paradigm works – we get to do what we want.

Secondly, there’s a difference between being an addict and being a recreational drug user. Using them indistinctly is dishonest (a religious leader lying, go figure!).

Thirdly, Francis insisted that legalizing failed to produce the desired effects. You know what always fails to produce the desired effects? Prohibition. Didn’t work with booze, porn or blasphemy. So far, the war on drugs has not only been a huge economic failure, but it has cost the lives of thousands of people around the world who have died due to drug-related violence. I think that scores really high in evil.

Finally, I’m calling Francis’ bullshit. Legalizing drugs is the best policy, and that’s supported by the best available evidence. I thought lying was a sin.

  • Leviticus 1:12

So, burning a fattie of Purple Dream or Lemon Haze displeases God, and he will punish you, but burning goats on altars pleases him, and he will reward you. Disgusting. The Pope carries all the moral gravitas of the head of an institution rife with unrepentant child molesters.

      Exactly!

Legalize everything, like you said, it’s our bodies & our minds & the biggest drawback to society of the use of drugs is the crime surrounding them because of prohibition. It’s gonna happen but as usual we have to wait for a few politicians to grow large enough balls to start talking about it.

And that’s the point: I have as much rights and freedoms as any future human being will have, so no one living today should have to wait until politicians grow a pair.

More wine goes down per capita in the Vatican than anywhere else in the world. But I guess the demographic is sk[r]ewed, compared to normal.

      That sounds about right
