Pope Francis lies about legalization of drugs
Pope Frank is at it again, pretending to poison foreign public policies with his ridiculous dogmas:
Pope Francis condemned the legalization of recreational drugs as a flawed and failed experiment as he lent his voice Friday to a debate that is raging from the United States to Uruguay.
Francis told delegates attending a Rome drug enforcement conference that even limited steps to legalize recreational drugs “are not only highly questionable from a legislative standpoint, but they fail to produce the desired effects.”
“Drug addiction is an evil, and with evil there can be no yielding or compromise. To think that harm can be reduced by permitting drug addicts to use narcotics in no way resolves the problem,” he added.
Oh, the hypocrisy. You know what’s really evil? Protecting child molesters. That’s evil.
First of all: we own our bodies – we are our bodies. We’re free to use them in whatever way we see fit as long as we don’t hurt anyone else, and that includes using drugs. To make Francis understand: that’s how the free will (wink, wink) paradigm works – we get to do what we want.
Secondly, there’s a difference between being an addict and being a recreational drug user. Using them indistinctly is dishonest (a religious leader lying, go figure!).
Thirdly, Francis insisted that legalizing failed to produce the desired effects. You know what always fails to produce the desired effects? Prohibition. Didn’t work with booze, porn or blasphemy. So far, the war on drugs has not only been a huge economic failure, but it has cost the lives of thousands of people around the world who have died due to drug-related violence. I think that scores really high in evil.
Finally, I’m calling Francis’ bullshit. Legalizing drugs is the best policy, and that’s supported by the best available evidence. I thought lying was a sin.
